Danville Planning Commission

22 January 2009

 

 Attendees:      Jeff Frampton, Derek Fenby, Nancy Lewis, Kim Prior, Jim Ashley, Mike Boudreau, Alison Meaders

 Start:              Meeting opened at 7:14 pm

 New Business:

Selectboard voted Mike to the Planning Commission, wife Dayna as alternate (congratulations Mike!)

 Mike reported on Chamber’s work to pick a travel & tourism item for development this year.  Possibilities include redoing welcome signs, overhauling website, kiosk at Marty’s Mobil. 

 Jeff, Kim and Jim attended Conservation Commission meeting – looking for input to town forest management plan.  Also developing a fund that will be presented and requested for approval at Town Meeting.

 Kim and Jim attended Rails to Trails meeting – 93 miles to be developed to ADA standards, question if any of this development needs to go through ACT 250 approval (most of the proposal seems to pre-date and will be exempt).  Awaiting state permits to begin work.  Request from Kim to develop a plan for trailheads in Danville.

 State Municipal Planning Grant 2009:  Alison reports we should hear any day now on our proposal.

 Smart Growth Town Center work:   Draft bylaws being created.  Homework for us:  (1) List by zone of existing intown businesses (2)  Description of our ideal setbacks, based on town walkaround with measurements.  Jeff to pick up measuring tool from Smart Growth, meet at 9:30 at town hall on Saturday 31^st for group walkaround (will map both setbacks and businesses at that time).   Bring clipboards if you have them.

 Jeff asked for a review of his performance as Chair and asked for feedback to be provided to Nancy. Although Jeff is willing to continue as Chair, he asked if anyone was interested in the position, it could be rotated and voted on by the DPC to appoint a new Chair if there was interest.

 For next meeting:  Be prepared with 3 ideas to use $2,000 NVRH grant to promote exercise in Danville.  Final consensus to be presented to selectboard for approval.
