Previous Minutes:

Read by the Clerk and accepted by the DPC as written.

Public Hearings:       

Review of the “Education & Community Resources” section of the draft Town Plan was held.

 Issues tabled by various attendees;

 Modify Education Overview to state “Pre through K-12” and add “and “increase co-curricular activities” after foreign languages. Also make note that there is a “parents / teachers group” and an “alumni group”.

 Capture the phrase “Education is the key to power” as a highlight caption.

 Under objectives, change adequate to quality in item # 7.

 Meg Powden will consider how to improve / publicize the school budget information process so that taxpayers have sufficient access to all pertinent information prior voting at Town Meeting.

 Town to identify all emergency shelters and ensure they have emergency power and other essential services. Apply for grants through the homeland security program for needed generators and supplies.

 Develop a usage plan to maximize use of public Town buildings.

 Develop a management plan for Town Forests and other Town lands.

 Review parking issues at Town recreation fields and Town Hall.

 Develop a volunteer organization to help EMS and Fire Department with non core activities such as fund raising, administration, education, etc.

 Correct overview of Emergency Services to state fire truck is stationed in North Danville and not owned by same.

 Under recommended actions, modify # 9 to state “maintain” alternate routes.

 Plan Preparation Update:

 DPC will meet bi-weekly on second Wednesday of each month to prepare for public meeting.
