Special Selectboard Budget Meeting

Minutes January 10^th, 2008

 The Selectboard met at the Danville Town Hall on Thursday January 10^th, 2008. The meeting was warned in the Caledonian Record as well as posted on the usual bulletin boards in town. Michael Walsh called the meeting to order at 6:03 pm. Selectboard present were Marion Sevigny, Marvin Withers, Doug Pastula, Denise Briggs and Michael Walsh. Also present were Merton Leonard, Ginnie Morse, and Kevin Gadapee, and visitors Keith Gadapee and Ted Legendre representing the fire department. 

             Doug Pastula corrected the Jan 10^th minutes to reflect visitor Amanda Weisenfeld as representing the Contra Dancers at the meeting. Denise Briggs moved to accept the minutes as corrected, Marvin Withers seconded the motion, and the minutes were approved as corrected.

 Keith Gadapee presented the fire departments budget request for 2008 at the same amount as last year of $21,248.00, plus requested that the balance from last year of $3964.00 be added to this years budget request as they still have some bills from last year to pay; the total requested was $25,212.00. He also highlighted last year’s larger purchases, which included an inflatable rescue boat, old ambulance from Danville Rescue, truck maintenance, 5% of fire grant, gear and equipment, and dress uniforms paid for from funds donated and raised for uniform purchase. After further discussion, Michael Walsh moved to set the fire departments budget item for 2008 at the total requested amount of $25,212.00; Marvin Withers seconded the motion, which was approved.

              The Board reviewed the Municipal budget line by line, discussing the figures and possible changes for each line item, when finished they had reduced it by approximately, $30,000 from original requests. After a discussion, the Board voted to suspend the traffic control coverage for this winter on a motion by Michael Walsh that was seconded by Denise Briggs. The Board also reviewed the revisions to the Highway budget from last meeting and reduced it by another $6,000.

             The Board agreed to request the budget committee to attend their next meeting on January 17^th at 6:00pm at the Town Hall.      

             With no further business, the Board adjourned at 8:49PM.
