Selectboard Minutes

Special Meeting  

                           July 9th, 2009

The Selectboard met at the Danville Town Hall on Thursday July 2nd, 2009. Marvin Withers called the special meeting to order at 5:00 pm. Selectboard present were, Marvin Withers, Michael K Walsh, Doug Pastula, and Steve Larrabee. Also present were Kevin Gadapee and Merton Leonard, and visitors Ken Linsley and Bert Frye, and reporter Sally Cook.

             The Board reviewed the bids from six of the ten Contractors whom received bid requests for the reconstruction of the Wightman Road Box Culvert Project: 

            1. Darrell Mathews Construction of Waterford bid $64,700, with starting date between Aug 15th to the 25th with a completion date of Oct 1st, 2009.

            2. Kirk Fenoff and son Excavating of Danville bid $82,500 with starting date around August 6th and completion date around Sept 7th.

            3. J A McDonald of Lyndon Center bid $139,525 with construction lasting 3 to 4 weeks after culvert ready.

            4. Twin State Sitework of St Johnsbury Bid $143,400.

            5. J P Sicard Inc of Barton bid $187,000.

            6. Winterset Inc of Lyndonville bid $229,129.60 w/ construction of 45 days.

             After some discussion of each of the bidders, Michael K Walsh moved to award the contract to low bidder Darrell Mathews Construction, contingent on the approval of this contractor's bid from VTrans and FEMA, Steve Larrabee seconded the motion which was approved.

             In other business, Merton informed the board that the Listers will be requesting to change the tax rate slightly at the next meeting; that there is a request to have a Vermont wine sales tent at Autumn on the Green; he passed out an updated budget printout for the Boards information; and he received an estimate from Michael K Walsh for an addition and improvements on the fire station for use in applying for a stimulus grant.

             With no other business, the Board adjourned the meeting at 5:15 PM.
